Double room with a comfortable and spacious double bed and cozy décor, with private bathroom. An ideal room for two people who don't argue about who gets the duvet, or for a solo traveler who sleeps crosswise.

Room 4 | BLUE dormitory for 4

Dormitory with five beds. Two bunk beds, one single bed, and shared bathroom. Ideal for backpackers seeking a community experience.
All beds have a locker.

Are you staying at Jaca Porto da Cruz and want t
e the surrounding nature, but don't have a car? Our favorites are:

  • The route from Boca do Risco to Larano begins in the parish of Machico and ends in the village of Porto da Cruz. It follows ancient agricultural paths where you can observe traditional farming methods, but also crosses areas of lush forest.

    Vereda do Larano

    It all starts with an idea. Maybe you want to start a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more serious.

  • Penha D'águia

    Penha de Águia is a challenge. Starting in the center of the village of Porto da Cruz, it offers the conquest of the geological (and mythological, ask the locals) giant that is Penha D'Águia, in a steep climb to the top. But the view from the top makes all the effort worthwhile, we guarantee it.

It culminates in a beautiful area of rivers and lagoons, where you can cool off and recharge your batteries for the return trip.

Restaurants and Bars

  • "A Pipa" Restaurant

    The nose finds the kite before the eyes do.

    The combination of butter, garlic, and lemon that makes up the seasoning for most of the dishes at this restaurant is tempting and invites gluttony. Dishes such as squid and tuna, fresh and cooked with simple seasonings, are our recommendation. And if you're staying at Jaca, venture out and try a poncha from Mr. José, it's as delicious and aromatic as it is lethal! And did we mention that it's right next door to Jaca? How convenient!

  • Dino's

    Since we're on the subject of poncha, our suggestion, just a short walk from the hostel, in the church square, where locals gather on summer evenings, is Dino's. A bar specializing in poncha, which purists say must be made with citrus fruits, lemon and orange, and served without ice. Our advice is to decide for yourself and try the more exotic passion fruit and tamarillo flavors, in addition to the classics, and then tell us which one is your favorite!

  • The Fragateira

    Dry wine and gaiado in escabeche are two of the classics of this icon of Porto da Cruz. Don't know what dry wine is? Can't imagine what gaiado is? Don't tell your new friends in the village. Show how well-versed you are in Madeiran tradition and tell them to meet you at the colorful terrace of Fragateira to find out what we're talking about. Or, if you have more time, ask them to make you the dish that gives the restaurant its name: a bubbling pot of fresh fish, vegetables, and aromatic herbs, in an unforgettable blend of flavors.

  • Baia do Bago Restaurant

    Traditional cuisine with a modern twist to the sound of the waves? After your meal, you can cool off in the pool next to this newest restaurant. Overlooking Maiata beach, you can enjoy fish, vegetarian dishes, and finish with an excellent dessert.
